HANDLOOM

We believe handloom is the future. What drove us towards the handloom is how slow and beautiful the whole process is. Apart from adding a very less carbon footprint, owing to factors ranging from eco-friendly infrastructure to low power consumption, it’s something that stays with you forever. It passes on from one generation to another. A weaver’s hard work. A story with every handloom piece.

We are always looking for ways to utilize our scraps of fabrics to it’s fullest potential, and now the scraps and handloom setup go hand in hand. Timeless and trendless home furnishings which you will cherish for years to come.

The primary objective is to promote local handicrafts. In so doing, we also create sustainable livelihood avenues for the marginalized craft communities who are living in some of the worst conditions in India. These artisans are at the far end of the supply chain and yet have amazing traditional wisdom and skills. Turn Black intends to create a sustainable hub for handloom products and act as a robust link between primary producers and destined international markets. The aim is to strengthen traditional craft value chains thereby bringing the desired change in society.

MEET THE WEAVERS

YaadRam Ji and Murari Ji are our current weavers. They have an experience of more than 30 years as weavers. They both belong to the family of weavers and were always intrigued by the idea of weaving. It’s amazing how they tried their hands at different professions before they started weaving full-time. They’re both friends and share a passion for weaving together. YaadRam Ji’s wife, Laxmi Ji, works on the stripe-cutting machine. She likes to accompany her husband to work.

Their zeal towards weaving is commendable and so is ours. It’s the perfect collision and we are very excited for the foreseeable future.
